Bashka Update

We had a call from our neighbour last night...she spotted Bashka, who is alive and well and apparently in cahoots with another male cat (not neutered) which has just moved into our development. The little buggers have formed a 'posse' and are roaming the neighbourhood! I don't know which house the new cat belongs too, but I suspect they leave their cat's food outside and Bashka has been eating that. Their cat is allowed to roam day and night and Bashka has taken up with him apparently.

My goodness, this is like a glimpse into the future when Romily is a teenager!

So we are no longer sad, but a little angry that our beloved pet has gone bush! So we are moving into Plan B, which is to lure Bashka back and separate from his new feline friend. If we can get our hands on him, Bashka won't be going outside again for little while!

In the midst of all of this, I've been doing a little sewing. Some handquilting on a little project and some work on the romper for baby A. I 'just' have to put the zip in, bind the neck and sew the snap tape along the crotch seam. Hopefully I can knock it over today and get it in the post tomorrow.

Missing

Our beautiful Bashka was spooked on Tuesday by a man with a leaf blower, bolted and we haven't seen him since. While he does spend quite a few hours outside every day, he's never been outside at night. We are quite worried about him and have been upset over the past few days at the thought of him never coming home. Fortunately Romily is too young to have been really attached to him, so is not asking about him. It's her sooky parents who are upset. We have put up flyers around the neighbourhood and contacted the RSPCA. He's microchipped, so if he does turn up somewhere, we should be contacted. We've also been out looking for him, but no sign. We haven't lost all hope yet, but it's not looking good.

Some serious eye candy!

Oooh how exciting, my order from equilter arrived! Thanks OzCountry Tracey for the tip-off :) I am planning to make a 'big girl's' quilt for Romily for when she moves into a single bed next year some time.

As you can see from my wild, fresh and funky fabrics, I may have to buy a couple of more subtle background fabrics, as I don't want the effect to be too riotous!

And, as you can also see, Bashka has adopted the fabric as his own - as many quilting cats seem to across Blogland!

We are all well and truly on the road to recovery, which is a huge relief! Fortunately Carl wasn't as sick as Romily and I were, so we are all feeling much better, with residual coughs and runny noses the only remaining 'issues'. We hope that by the time the weekend is out we are all back to 100%. I have Monday as a holiday (just because), so it's a lovely long weekend for us. I hope to get some more work done on my Starry Night project and get all this lovely new fabric washed and pressed ready to go. I have drawn up my own pattern, based on some simple Japanese blocks that Fairybread Jenni posted a photo of some time ago. This is going to be my 'long-term' project, which I'll work on over the next 12 months or so.

A two-headed puss?

No, not really. A photo my mum took of Bashka last time she was up here.

New computer arrives on Monday. Old Mac is busted, so we had the techs retrieve all our old data and once it's loaded on to the new computer we'll toss it. And this laptop we're working off will become Romily's computer in a bid to keep her away from the new one. We're almost certain that she is the common denominating factor between the two computers breaking within a short space of each other! She just loves pushing the buttons and 'typing'.

The kid and the cat

Nothing quilty or crafty to show you - have made a start on the purple flying geese, but haven't got a lot to report! Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my 'wonky' geese - I am letting go of that perfectionist side of my nature and agree that the angles not going all the way to the corners won't be a problem once the quilt is done.

For anyone who wants what looks to be a great speed piecing 'recipe' for flying geese, I did what was suggested and Googled 'flying geese pattern'. Up popped this website with an excellent 'no waste method' for making Flying Geese. Well worth a surf around the whole site :)

So, as I have no other photos to show, how's about some of The Kid and The Cat? They are getting along just fine and Bashka does a good job of tolerating an over-exuberant toddler!

Bashka is here!

Just had to post some photos of our beautiful boy, who finally arrived today! Bashka is settling in beautifully and he is just gorgeous. We're all in love all over again. Especially Romily, who has said 'mau mau mau' about 5000 times today!

Dropped off the face of the earth

Well not quite - I can't believe it's nearly two weeks since I posted. Have been planning to show off some photos from my new camera, but have only just got around to loading the software. And I still have to download all the photos to our other computer because we still don't have a new one and this one's USB ports are busted. So I have to transfer everything via CD. A very big pain the bum!

Very busy indeed at work and at home - I've had hardly any time to myself, although I have started yoga again. It's been 18 months (yes, just before Rom was born), and I really need it. I just love yoga (I just do hatha) and have missed it a lot. It's good to be back into it again - although I've realisd just how weak I've become!

I have done absolutely no stitching or anything crafty for two weeks. What a shocker. I've just been so tired and struggling to keep my eyes open after putting Romily down for the night. Too tired by half.

Romily is going really well - she speaks about 40 words consistently at the moment, understands just about everything we ask her, answers yes or no to all our questions and has finally started saying 'ta'. She had her last jab the other day until she's four - the chicken pox vaccine has just come onto our 'free' inoculation list. I say 'free' because you still have to pay for the doctor's appointment! She is so gorgeous at the moment - 18 months is the most gorgeous age!

We're off to Sydney for the weekend after I finish work tomorrow afternoon - we haven't been there since before Romily was born. (Well I had a day trip with Rom when she was five months old, but Carl didn't come). I am looking forward to just getting out of Canberra for the weekend and just mooching about with no firm commitments, no timetables, just random, leisurely wandering!

Bashka - 13 weeks (photos from the breeder)

And to top it all off, our Bengal kitten Bashka arrives in Canberra on Monday afternoon - I can't wait - I am so excited about having a pet - it's been 10 years. I think I may even be more excited that Romily will be when she realises the 'mau' is a permanent fixture/captive target!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up to date with everyone's blogs - I have hardly been online at all.

Hopefully I'll have some stitching to report next week! Until then, take care my little chickadees!

And introducing Bashka...

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you the newest addition to our family - Bashka.

Bashka is four weeks old and will be coming to join us in late January or thereabouts. He is a Bengal kitten and will be a most beautiful cat. I think I'm in love all over again :)

Here he is with his mum, who is a brown spotted Bengal.

Baskha is a silver rosetted boy.

And boy he's beautiful! Here he is with his dark silver sister.

Awwwww!
